Book of Abraham: Dealing with the Critics (DVD)
Ever since the rediscovery of the Joseph Smith Papyri, critics have charged that Egyptology has found the Book of Abraham to be fraudulent. Michael Rhodes demonstrates in this technical but very informative presentation the weakness of such arguments and shows how the critics have failed to give Joseph Smith credit in areas where Joseph got it right. Michael D. Rhodes is Associate Research Professor in Ancient Scripture at BYU. He earned a B.A. in Classical Greek from BYU in 1970, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1982, and an M.S. in Physics from the University of New Mexico in 1989. Michael has done graduate work in Egyptology at both the Freie Universitaet (Berlin) and Johns Hopkins University. Michael is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS). At BYU he has held positions as Associate Lecturer of Ancient Scriptures and Instructor of Ancient Scripture. He also taught at the United States Air Force Academy as Assistant Professor of Physics, and served as Director of the United States Air Force Academy Observatory. iscounts).
