The title of this little book is "John Taylor: Educator - The Contributions of President John Taylor to Latter-day Saint Education." In the sense of a classroom instructor, that name is quite inappropriate; however, John Taylor was an educator in the truest definition of the word. Under his tutelage, the Saints learned about the lifelong pursuit of learning, and seeking all that was "virtuous, lovely and of good report." John Taylor taught that all learning should begin with truth and a sound knowledge of the restored gospel; for him it was central and standard to all successive pursuits.

With a prophet's eye he saw and understood the trials of the Saaints. His direction was unerring. He was named the "double martyr" of the Church - once for his blood spilt at Carthage, and one for he later years spent in hiding from federal prosecutors for following the tenets of his religion. From his entrance into the Church, he was harrassed and pressured by illegal government acts; yet few knew Constitutional law and the Lord's plan for millennial government as he did. His life and words were timeless lessons.
